A panel of government agency/department leadership and elected officials will discuss the opportunity for support of low-income communities in the state’s implementation of recent federal climate investments (i.e. GGRF, IIJA, IRA, etc.). The discussion will include increasing accessibility to renewable technologies, leverage affordability, and addressing the energy needs of low-income communities and communities of color.

The discussion will include examples of successful collaborations and information about funding programs and opportunities for organizations doing work that improves access to resources and capital for these communities.

A panel of CDFIs will discuss their role within the CDFI ecosystem in bringing equity and resources to low-income communities of color. The discussion will include the advantages of CDFIs led by people of color, the opportunities presented by the newly launched Cal Investment & Innovation Program, and what challenges these BIPOC CDFIs currently face. Panelists will expound on what can be done to uplift and support CDFIs who look like their communities.

A panel of elected officials will discuss their efforts to bring equity and access to low-income communities of color through support of community economic development. The panel will inform of current and future legislative efforts to support CED, as well as discuss how CED orgs can support these efforts and work with electeds to advance CED goals.
