DESCRIPTION:NACEDA and the Urban Institute have embarked on a 3-year research study (2021–2023) on the financial health\, programs\, production\, and services of community-based development organizations (CBDOs) throughout the United States. CBDOs work in low-income communities and communities of color to implement development projects and provide programs and activities that meet community needs. A comprehensive national study of these nonprofit organizations has not been completed since 2005.

DESCRIPTION:Spanish translation and interpretation services are available if requested at least 24 hours in advance of the event.  \nThis workshop focuses the types of financial reports that should be generated and discuss how to identify and analyze key information contained in the reports. We will explore strategies for improved communication across functions and how to build a “team around the numbers” focused on financial results. \nThe Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) and its partner BDO FMA are ready to assist organizations in accessing\, applying for and managing current and upcoming American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding opportunities to serve LA County communities most impacted by COVID.  We are especially looking to engage BIPOC-led and BIPOC-serving organizations operating under a budget of $2.5M in this effort to ensure equitable access to funding. \nKey focus areas for this workshop will include: \n\nFinancial reporting best practices for board\, leadership\, and staff\nCommon Key Performance Indicators for nonprofits\nStrategies for improved communication across functions\n\n\nWho Should Attend: All staff members of LA County nonprofit organizations who are interested in learning more about preparing their organizations to apply for current ARPA contracting opportunities.
